I'm gonna try to make my long story short because I'm a FTM and I'm taking advantage of the baby being sleep and not crying. Ok. He're we go..
I went in Friday for my 38 week appointment and they were concerned about my blood pressure being high for the second week in a row. So they sent me over to the hospital to be monitored. I went home and got the bags and DH just in case I had to be induced. I wasn't expecting it but I was being practical, even though I was scared.
We went into L & D and after about an hour of monitoring they decided to induce. I was scared. DH was excited. Anywho after induction, I labored for about 24 hours until I stopped progressing at 7cm and they decided it may be time to do a C section. Somehow I was not mentally ready for that but when my baby's heart rate dipped twice I would have let them cut open anything on me to get him out safely.
I had what they called Gestational Hypertension which to me is just another name for Pre-E right? Anywho they gave me magnesium. Between the magnesium and the extra medicine they put in my epidural I was completely off my rocker mentally. I could barely tell that my c section even took place. I thought I slept through the whole thing but DH said I wasn't sleep I was just loopy. He said I kept asking..."is this real life?" He had to point out the baby to me as the nurse passed by to clean him off. I remembered thinking really where did he come from and when did you all get him? It was crazy. My body kept shaking all over and I remember the doctors telling me that was normal. I felt like I was in another world.
Lastly but not least I have a beautiful healthy 7 pound 4 ounce little boy named Phillip. Yaaay!
Oh and another thing. Once I saw my post c section stomach after a couple days of recovery...I was devastated. But it's for my kid so I'll just have to suck it up (literally) and move on.
Good luck to you remaining March ladies, I will be checking in whenever possible. :-)
Re: LO is here..due 3/10. Had him 3/2.
Ugh, I had to be on magnesium sulfate during the L&D of our first and for 48 hours after she was delivered. It was no fun.
I'm so glad your LO is here safely. Hope your recovery is good and congratulations!
