ben wa balls (blush)

I was wondering if anyone has any experience using ben wa balls to strengthen pelvic floor muscles?

For those who don't know what they are, they are small metal or plastic balls that are inserted in the vagina and often are weighted. Some people use them as sex toys, but they are also used for strengthening the pelvic floor, because you have to squeeze the muscles to hold them in. (Apparently they've gotten really popular because they were in "Fifty Shades of Grey," haven't read it...)

Anyway, since Kegels alone make me squeamish, I thought this might be an alternative. And hey, they could be fun too... (hee hee)

Re: ben wa balls (blush)

  • I have a set that are used during sex. I think DH gets a bigger turn on with them than I do. I've considered trying them during the day, but I get squeamish thinking about the possibility of needing to take a surprise poo and possibly forgetting they are in (and pushing them into the toilet). I would not be fishing them back out.

    ETA: I've not read 50 shades and I have no desire to.

  • I have a set and they're pretty awesome. I have been using them to strengthen the muscles, but only in the privacy of my own home. Too easy to get lazy and have one fall out. That would be awkward.

    ETA: Mine are not 50 Shades related, either. Just throwing that out there :)

    How do kegels make you squeamish, but ben wa balls sticking foreign objects into your vagina and doing what basically amounts to a ...kegel... to keep them in don't? nbsp;A kegel is a muscle contraction. nbsp;Do bicep curls make you squeamish?nbsp;

    I must admit I don't like doing them either.

  • I just got a set a week ago for the strengthening of my pelvic floor! I've started with putting one in when I'm home for most of the day.  It didn't bother me at all but I haven't tried two.

  • I had mine for the other obvious reason and yes I had them before Fifty Shades even came out.  I completely forgot they help with the pelvic floor muscles.  I may need to start practing with those instead.

    OH MY... I have not read 50 Shades either, and I have never heard of these. I had to google for curiosity's sake. I am confused by these said Ben-wa balls... You just, stick them in there? And you can put them in during sex? What if one gets lost in there?? lol Intrigued...

    you stick them in your vagina and try to keep them in. They are used as a form of foreplay and some lucky women get off while they are still in. I've never heard of them being used during sex but I could be wrong. And I knew what they were before 50 shades of gray.

    It's not really possible to lose things in your vagina. Unless you have weird cervical issues, i guess.

    Well, the main issue is that no one's pelvic floor muscles are weak enough that they can't hold a couple of ben wa balls in place, because it isn't the muscles themselves that keep them in, it's the vacuum force created above the balls when they move down with gravity. This is why you have to push to get them out. So, they are useless in terms of strengthening PFMs.If you really, really want to strengthen the PFMs, do squats. Lot's of squats. In addition to building your ass back into shape, the movement does more to strengthen the PFMs than kegels do. nbsp; Now, a couple of weighted BWs for fun? That's another story entirely.

    Maybe mine are just exceedingly heavy, but i have to work to keep them in there while I'm walking around.

    I can see why this seems weird. I don't know why, maybe it's because my muscles there are weak and it feel like it takes a lot of effort to squeeze. I thought maybe having something to "grip" might make it feel different, more "supported" somehow. I don't know.

    Thanks for all of your responses, ladies! I guess whether or not they help the pelvic floor they could still be fun! :)
