Benadryl for nausea

Those in the same boat as me. A nurse practitioner in the ER last night told me to try Benadryl 12.5 mg every 12 hours. It's safe during pregnancy so I tried it, along with the zofran.

Figured I'd fill anyone in that hasn't heard of this.

i dont really understand why you would need this WITH zofran, and i dont understand how it would help with nausea?

plus, it makes me super sleepy. i wouldnt. i feel zofran would be enough and if you need more, maybe try eating some ginger chews or something?

i dont get it.

This. Benadryl is for allergies and sinus issues not nausea. Plus it will make you tired. My OB just suggested it for my post-nasal drip to help dry it out. For my mausea she said B6 and ginger. But if you already taking zofran you shouldn't need anything else.

my dr told me today that benadryl was safe too - in regards to sleeping (in my case) but he did also mention that unisom was safe to take in case of nausea.

When I worked in the hospital the doctors used both Benadryl and vistaril for nausea as well.

I've been taking bonine and it seems to really work. The nurse at my drs. office was surprised it actually worked for me; I guess it tends to not be the most effective. So maybe it is mental, but when I lapse in taking it, I feel like poo, so I will take is religiously!

i have no idea about the benedryl but as someone who zofran does not work for, I can tell you that is not always true that if you are taking zofran you don't need anything else. I need EVERYTHING else - zofran does NOTHING for me! :-(
