Pregnant after 35

Getting worried

Here's my situation...I got my LMP on Jan 8th, I should have ovulated sometime between the 22nd-25th.  I got my first faint BFP on a dollar store test on Feb 5th.  I should be 8 weeks today more or less.  I went in for sono last monday which should have been 7 weeks, I measured 6w1d, I thought ok no biggie I prob ovulated late.  Saw hb everything seemed ok.  Yesterday I go in for another sono and only measured 6w4d still had hb.  Dr. didn't seem too concerned said measurements this early not always accurate.  He was gonna have me come back in a month but I think he saw my apprehension and scheduled me for a level 1 sono with a tech and better machine on Monday.  We had a loss in the fall and I am kind of freaking out.  Has anyone had this happen before?  You don't have to sugar coat anything for me if it ended badly.  Just looking to see if this has happened to anyone else and what the outcomes were.

Re: Getting worried

  • I was just going to say that my understanding was that U/S prior to 8 weeks are NOT all that accurate. That's why my doc doesn't do them before 8 weeks. I think that if you still have a HB at this point, you're still okay. For now, at least. It's impossibly not to worry. Try not to, but know that there isn't anything you can do at this point but continue to be healthy to support the babe. Are you taking any progesterone supplements? After my loss, the docs put me on progesterone suppositories, "just in case."

    Hang in there!

No he doesn't have me on anything.  Didn't have me do betas or anything.  I have a script for the usual pregnancy blood work to get done today at lab.  He really didn't seem overly concerned.

  • I had several early ultrasounds for this pregnancy and the dates were very similar to yours. My RE and OB were not concerned as a millimeter at this stage changes the dating and it's hard to get a good measurement. I'm at 20 weeks now. Try not to worry too much.

  • The same thing happened to me. My first u/s at 5w6d measured perfect but exactly one week later I measured only 6w2d. I spent the next week thinking all was over but one week later I was back at 8w. Hb was healthy each time. My dr also told me its just so hard to get an accurate measurent when baby is that tiny. My little girl is now 3 months :)
