  I'm really interested to see what everyone says.  DS sits up great supported but unless he's leaning all the way forward and grabbing his feet he topples over in seconds unsupported.  His head size is also in the 95th percentile though so I think he may be a little top heavy.  :-/

  I'm curious, too. DD can sit up for a few seconds, but she'll gradually lean forward and forward until she topples to the left or right. I try to help her by putting her in the tripod position, but she doesn't hold it for long. I'm trying not to fret, because I realize a few weeks is a super long time developmentally for babies.   6-7 months?  However, he went from where you are to fully sitting up really, really quickly; really in a matter of weeks.  I used to sit him on the floor with the Boppy behind him for support.  That helped him to strengthen up his core muscles enough to sit up for longer periods of time.

  6 months to sit long enough for a picture. I didn't dare leave him without the boppy until more like 7 though...he was wobbly for awhile.

  Maybe a week or two shy of 6 months.  But it is just in the last week that he can get himself to sitting from laying down without help.

  5 months.  He sits great.. sometimes, will sit for more than an hour!  But, still doesn't roll!! Darn kid, doing everything out of order

  DD sat up by herself closer to 7 months.  It took her a while to figure it out.

  7ish months I think? I remember the pedi commenting on it at her 6 month appointment and suggesting that we prop her up and then sit across from her and roll a ball to her that she would have to reach for to help her develop her core muscles and balance.

  5 months was when he started sitting for more than 3 minute without falling over. He is starting to be able to balance himself if he starts to wobble, but not always. I won't leave him unattended sitting up unless I put a pillow behind him.

  Close to 6 months old. He started doing it in between the 5 and 6 month mark and got a lot steadier during the 6th month.
