1st Trimester

1st pregnancy and very nervous

Me and my Husband have been together for 9 years. I have been ready for about 6 of those 9 years :). So its finally here and im starting to think im not ready.  I found out the 25 of this month and yesterday I was 5 weeks.  We were not trying because my husband was still not ready but I guess God had other plans :) I am excited but freaking out at the same time. My family and friends do not know yet and im kind of freaking out about telling them as well. Any words of wisdom that might ease my mind?

Re: 1st pregnancy and very nervous

  • If we all waited until we were definitely ready - no one would have babies.

There is no such thing as 100% ready for something as life-changing as a baby.  You can be more prepared, yes, but 100% ready is a myth.

If you weren't actively preventing pregnancy- that's the same thing as trying to get pregnant.

Congratulations, a very happy and healthy pregnancy to you!

  • yeah, it took my husband 7 years to propose to me. He "wasn't ready" and he of course had to be coaxed into the baby thing. He told his Grandmother that he wanted more money daved first and she said, "If your Grandpa and I had waited for more money, you wouldn't be here" and I guess he was satisfied with that answer. He is totally stoked about our pregnancy. We're 7 weeks 3 days and he only refers to me as Momma now:) It's pretty cute. I agree with 526SadieSadie. If you didn't want to get pregnant you would have used more caution and protection. BUT regardless, Congrats!!

  • You are having normal feelings. Don't share your news until you are ready and if you are nervous, let DH tell them. You have a while to get used to the idea of a baby and you will feel much more ready when you are so uncomfortable you will be begging for the kid to come out.

  • This is my second pregnancy and I am just as nervous as my first. It is totally normal to freak out during the first trimester. My advice is just to celebrate every moment and don't stress about having everything perfect for the arrival of the baby. Everything will fall together in time. :)

  • I feel ya!  I have been wanting to have a baby for over a year.  I was obsessed with babies and actively trying.  The second it actually happened I freaked out.  10 weeks later and I am still feeling nervous and unsure.  I think its normal.  We have crazy hormones right now, extra tired all the time and sick.  Its hard to think straight or feel any "warm fuzzies."  Maybe second or third trimester will be better.  I am still waiting for the happy feelings too.

    First tri is rough.
