Beta? Hcg? How?

I suffered a mc in January and I keep seeing all these ladies saying they are getting their betas checked and hcg numbers and getting some kind of shot to make sure they don't miscarry?! How do they do that, how would I go about getting my numbers done?

    I have no idea about a shot. I've had my betas drawn because I am seeing an RE due to trouble conceiving and having had a chemical pregnancy. I am also on a progesterone supplement because my progesterone was low and that is what helps nourish a pregnancy. I guess some people do progesterone in shot form, so maybe that's what you were thinking?

    Hi Hailey, in sorry about your loss. I lost a pregnancy in January too. When I called my doctor to schedule my first OB appointment, I asked to have betas ordered. I don't know whether you could request that or not. I just want them drawn because I had minor spotting over the weekend.

    I had my betas drawn because I had a subchorionic hemorrhage and was bleeding for a few days! If you are high risk, hx of miscarriages, or have fertility issues you may be closely followed up as well. The "shots" you are referring to, I'm assuming are the progesterone supplements. Call your OB and express your concerns, they are usually VERY accommodating. Good Luck !!!

    I also had my betas drawn because I have had two miscarriages and was under the care of an RE. I am also on progesterone and baby aspirin. I would call your OB if you are concerned.

    I would say its most likely the progesterone shot. 

     

    Because I went through IVF I am on the shots until at least week 8 if its a singleton or week 10 if its multiples.

     

    They say things like baby asprin and the progesterone shot can help sustain a pregnancy but I dont know.

    I don't know about the shots but I had betas drawn due to 3 m/c in a row. If u ask your ob may order some for you!

    Sorry about your previous loss. I had a m/c on Christmas Eve
    (this happened a 2 days before my 1st appt. last time. My OB wanted to schedule earlier with me before the m/c happened but I was on vacation and everything was still normal during that part of the pregnancy). When I called my OB's office yesterday to schedule my 1st appt. I mentioned my previous m/c and they scheduled me for next Friday (and told me I will have my blood taken then). Oh I also have no idea about the shot. I've never heard of it before.
