Color Wonder Recommendations

I was thinking about getting some Color Wonder supplies for my DD's Easter Basket and wondered if anyone could make some suggestions for which products they've liked or didn't like?

I'm hoping it will be a fun thing for her to do when I'm occupied with the new baby since she really loves to paint and draw but I usually need to keep a pretty close eye on her when she does. Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Color Wonder Recommendations

  • We have only done the markers so far, but we love them! They are truly mess free. DD1 was a flower girl and had to wear an ivory dress, she dropped one of the markers right in her lap, tip first, and it didn't even leave a mark.

  • I absolutely love Color Wonder.  We have the markers and the finger paints.  I was skeptical about using the finger paints as DD tends to still be somewhat oral.  The paints are really easy to use and relatively mess free.  DD will sometimes wipe the paint on her face but it wipes off with a baby wipe.  No problems with the paint/ markers damaging anything.

  • We have tried both the paints and markers. DD loves them both but I hate the paint. DD always wants to paint a little bit on one page, flip, paint alittle, flip, repeat.... Well the paint is super sticky and sticks all the pages together to where you cannot get them unstuck. You will have to buy the non spiraled coloring book so you can pull the pages apart and give them one at a time with the paint if you LO does the same thing. I have never seen the finger paints.

  • I loved the idea of this, but not the execution. I felt the finger paints were goopy and didn't paint well. The markers were nice, but I personally just give my daughter the washable ones and at least I don't have to worry about having special paper for it. I prefer the real thing with my daughter.

I agree, though I didn't like the markers either.  I don't like how  the colors don't immediately show up.  It's pretty difficult to paint or draw something when you can't see what you're doing for several seconds.  I don't plan on wasting any more money on them....

  • Yes, we weren't thrilled with how long it took for the color to show up either, but they were better than the lousy finger paints. No more for us

  • I actually LOVE the markers for DD. She can sit there and color for a while with them, although as PPs stated, the color doesn't always show up right away.
