LO #2 is due June 30th. LO #1 will be 19 mos. She is on the petite side so I don't think she's ready for a sit n stand type of stroller. We currently have the City mini and are very happy with it. I was thinking I didn't need to rush into picking a double stroller right away and maybe just keep #2 in the Ergo and #1 in stroller and switch to have her walk when necessary until we had a chance to try out some other options.
Did anyone else do this?

I did. DD was 14 months and barely walking when DS was born. We have a CIty Select... it was nice to be able to snap the carseat in. I use that stroller almost every day.
my read shelf:
We have the double BOB since I like to run with the girls but if it wasn't for running I wouldn't need one. I wear DD2 in the Ergo and DD1 has never cared for strollers so she walks. Although I usually have a single stroller on me just in case DD1 gets tired and to hold our stuff when we're out. For trips to the park and zoo we will use the wagon.
I think maybe it depends on the double? Not sure though. DD2 is on the way and DD1 will be 21 months when she gets here.
We chose the City Select, because I can use it as a double or a single, and can use it with a newborn and with an older child. I figure even if I don't end up using the double option much, I will still have the single and can wear the little one. Then if DD1 gets too big, DD2 can use it as a single.
I couldn't convince myself to buy a side by side, as I'm not sure how long DD2 will be willing to ride.
We had to get a double stroller right away, but my 2 are only 13.5 months apart and my DD could barely walk when my DS was born. We got a City Mini Double and used it nearly every day that 1st year. We also got 2 cheapo umbrella strollers. I usually strap DS in one of those and let my DD walk now.
Recently we got a Sit N Stand and we are loving it but at 19 months my DD probably wouldn't have gotten the concept of it. We started using it when DD was 2.5 and it has been so perfect. We are selling our City Mini Double now because the Sit N Stand has replaced it.

I was looking at the sit and stand too (My DS will be 21 months when this LO is born), some of them are able to carry the car seat in the "stand" position, my plan was to have DS sit in the pushchair part until LO was about 6months ish, and out of the car seat, and which point he will be almost 2 1/2 and able to use the stand part...just and idea (I also will be having a RCS)
Wearing the baby and using the single worked out GREAT for me.
I liked having both hands free to chase the toddler and having a smaller stroller.
Once the baby was larger and not as comfy to carry the toddler was ready for the sit and stand and it was a great option.
We only used our true double a hand full of times. I bought it off Craigslist and ended up selling it again fairly quick when I realized the sit and stand was a better fit for us.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I tried baby wearing and it didn't work out at all. I often had a newborn in the ergo or moly and a toddler who I ended up needing to carry (tantrum in the parking lot) then I'm carrying her on my hip while she "pats" the newborns head!
Another issue was her kicking newborn as I tried putting her into the shopping cart, car seat...and so on!
Imho I would get a single stroller that converts to a double. In the beginning I was using it as a double ALL the time but as DD gets bigger she could walk or didn't want to be in the stroller so I would put DS in the stroller and also had a ride on board for DD.....I definitely still needed a double for longer trips.
I love my city select. It was worth every penny
