Re: turning over at night

  • DD does the same thing and I asked the pedi about it at our 6 month appointment.  Pedi said it is fine as long as she does it on her own.

  • LO has been rolling onto his stomach every night since about 4 months.  I can't really blame him, I sleep on my stomach too.

  • Same thing with my LO and it freaked me out at first. She loves sleeping on her belly though. She will turn on her own but sometimes gets really close to the side or bumps her head so I lay her down on her tummy now and she goes right to sleep. I check on her tons though to make sure she is breathing.
  • Like PP said, I think its fine as long as they turn over by themselves.  My LO is now a tummy sleeper and has been since he started rolling over.

  • DD has always preferred sleeping on her tummy. I've allowed it since she was 2 mo. Even *gasp* putting her down on her tummy, but mostly for naps. For bed time if she rolls on to her tummy I figure that she can roll back if she needs to, or adjust her head accordingly. I also give her a stuffed animal to go to bed with, she likes to play with something and have it touch her cheek - whatever helps her go to sleep without having to CIO.
