What a craptastic 9mo appt- Updated

LO dropped from the 92%tile to the 48th! Pedi isnt surprised since he had a massive tummy bug. I could barely listen to the rest of our appt over the gremlin in my head slamming every decision Ive ever made.

Then he asked me how getting him scheduled for tubes is going. I couldnt get the office to get back to me. He called for me and handed me the phone which made me feel like Teen Mom. Apparently all my messages worked- he's scheduled for the 13th... not that I knew that or anything...

Antibiotics dont touch him. His ears are as horrible as ever. He wants to give him 3 shots of antibiotics and I lost it. He asked me what I wanted to do and I froze. I dont want to say no to him, but Im so sick of antibiotics. Not to mention, the last thing I want is to give him something that will give him tummy problems when he's gained less than 1/2 a pound in 3 months. He told me to come back Monday so we can give it a few more days.

We made an emergency BM run to my friends house. We are doing a 2 more days of oral antibiotics and BM in his ears, and lots of begging the universe to cut this chicky a frikin break.

Update-

The BM worked! I cant believe it. His pedi gasped it was so much better. I didnt have much hope and I dont think he did either, but Im so glad we waited! No Rocephin! Woohoo! We are just doing BM in his ears until his tubes are placed on the 13th.2

Also- They MA messed up his weight. He is in the 63rd %tile which his pedi is happier with.

Thanks for the well wishes. Friday was just rough!

I dont have much time to post but don't be so hard on yourself!!! These things happen!!!! It's not bc of anything you did!!!!

You have to cut yourself a break or else you're going to end up w a nervous breakdown.

I hope LO feels better, and he will! You will all get through this.
  • Your poor little guy...sorry, you're going through this!  I hope things get better soon...!

I'm so sorry your appointment didn't go well.  But, try not to blame yourself.  It's not your fault!  I hope you both feel better soon.

  • I'm sorry, your poor little guy with all of those ear troubles. Just wanted to give you some hope that the tubes will help him. They helped my DS1 so much, amazing, and I know so many others who have said the same. It sucks having to have them put in but hopefully will be worth it for you. Also, if you decide to get that shot, that helped my little guy when other antibiotics weren't so may be worth a shot. Cut yourself some slack though, none of this is your fault. You're doing great.

  • None of this is your fault. All three of mine have tubes and none of them ate very well while having ear infections. Ds3 got his the first of febuary and he's chunked up so much since then b/c he's finally eating well. If you do need the shots they are not that bad and I felt they were better then the oral meds. The oral meds always gave my boys horrible diarrhea but the shots did not. I also give my boys probotics anytime they go on antibotics or we travel. I use florstor for kids with them
