TTC Check-in

Happy Monday! How are the TTC ladies doing?

QOTD: What is some of the best (or worst) advice you got for TTC? Hard to choose, I know, I've gotten lots of good advice on here but your response doesn't have to come from what you learned on the board. Share with us!

Re: TTC Check-in

  • K and I went to clinic yesterday for bloodwork and ultrasounds. My bloodwork looks good with E2 Level of 264, which they say is great for where I am on the Lupron injections. In my ultrasound they found one enormous follicle on the right side... 42 mm... WTH? It just keeps growing because meds won't let me ovulate. Have had big follicles before ovulation but never HUGE: 18, 20, 22, 27 mm but never 42!! Crazy. They said it shouldn't interfere with my transfer however. I don't know where it is going to go though.

K's ultrasound looked fantastic with 19 happy follicles all ranging from 11mm to 15mm which is right were she needs to be! And she is definitely feeling it... Bloated and soar. Pre-op appt tomorrow and her egg retrieval will be Friday. We can't wait for this week to be over.

QOTD: Best TTC advice - try to let go of expectations and enjoy the ride. We had no idea when we started a year ago that we would be here today. I am trying not to have expectations as we go into this new process of partner IVF, but I am feeling excited. I hate it when people say "it will happen when it happens" but so far it hasn't happened on my time. I'm really enjoying the process of getting closer with my wife and sharing the journey of making a baby with her. I remember every day how blessed I am just to have this chance!

I hope you all have a good day!

  • Whoh!  A 42mm folly?  Can you feel that MK?

Congrats on your 19 follicles growing!   That's a great number!

    Our Update:

I just got back from the clinic where I paid $4000 for them to order our sperm for us!   Yikes!  H. and I will have to sit down later and figure out a budget for paying it off - but at least we have it so we won't (hopefully) have to worry about the donor question anymore.

We already had one vial at the clinic, and just purchased 5 more - so we have 6 now.  We figured that if I get pregnant in the next two cycles, 4 vials should be a decent number to have to try to get us a sibling using the same donor.  The decision was really a fine balance of what we thought we could afford and what we felt comfortable with.

Otherwise - at our check last weekend we had 2 follicles around 8mm, and raised our Puregon does up to 200iui/day.  We're going back in tomorrow with a hope that we have 3 decent sized follies growing on schedule, but 2 would be okay too.

QOTD: Best Advice - Find a hobby that isn't TTC related and hold onto it!  Balance has been the key to my sanity and being able to do things that could get my mind off babies really helps.     Worst Advice - I HATE it when people who hear how hard it is to deal with the IF/TTC process suggest adoption as if it would be easier.

  • So February was (kind of) our first IUI attempt. I say kind of because we didn't actually get to the IUI attempt. I went in for five (!!!) ultrasounds but unfortunately there was no growth so we called it off. The good news was I had a good lining to shed and took prometrium for ten days to bring on my period. Today is CD1 and boy there is no denying my period started. I'll start five days of Clomid again starting Wednesday so fingers crossed that things grow the way they're supposed to this month.

Because we haven't really told anyone other than immediate family that we're TTC I've luckily avoided most of the 'advice' people give you. All the good advice I got came from here, so thanks ladies!

  • Well I had a hell of weekend I thought I was having implantation bleeding wrong!! It was auntflo say hello! I cried but, I had to realize its not time yet and lets get some rest and try again. So, today I took the first step and made an appoint with a RE and my OB/GYN and i'm feeling great about this !! I'm smiling from ear to ear why I have no clue but, hopefully its going to be a great experience sine this will be my first time meeting with an RE. My best advice I had so far is from you all!! Thank you for been there and giving me advice when its needed. I can't but, in to words on how much mean to me in my journey. Thank You!!
  • Manada gave our update. I'm excited about the sperm. But 4000 all at once feels like a whole lot of dough.

    QOTD:
Best advice when you have your baby/ies or kid/s, the stress, time, and cost of the process will not be nearly as big of a deal.

Worst advice M stole mine. So I will give a different one"you should really reconsider using sperm bank donor sperm. Most of the people who donate there are on their way into or out of prison." sooo many things wrong with that statement
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

  • So.... Here is our ttc myself and FirstComesLove update:

We are in our second tww, which doesn't even feel like we are waiting for anything because we are dead sure out timing was off. From CD13 we started doing OPK's and they legitimately looked the same for 3 days, so we got antsy, had the IUI and continued to do OPK's. They continued to have the same darkness. Then just for giggles I took an OPK although I am not trying to get pregnant and it was the exact same darkness as A's. So anyways, this feels like a bit of a wasted try.
We are in the process of getting a fertility monitor for next cycle, because all that peeing and stick analysis is for the dogs. We are also thinking about going with some type of fertility drugs next cycle so we don't feel like we are throwing money down the toilet.
Next cycle we are planning on doing a round at home and a round at the OB, with two different donors. This makes me feel good because I really want to be as disconnected from the "donor" as possible helps me cope with my inability to produce my own sperm...
So here we go! 3rd times a charm!

QOTD: Best advice: once you have a child you will forget all the anxiety of trying to get pregnant.
Worst Advice: from my mother, who is more evolved than this statement Why don't you just do it the natural way? Just find a man to knock your wife up, it will be much cheaper...
    Really Mom, really?!?

  • Good Evening all!

We are back in a TWW.  We are also hoping third time is a charm.  I think our timing was actually pretty good this cycle.  We had a different person do our IUI this last week.  My previous IUIs were 10-15 minutes, no big deal, not painful.  This IUI took >35 minutes and I was practically completely upside down by the time she had the bed in what she felt was the perfect position to get through my cervix.  It was kinda comical ...... after the cramping calmed down.  I certainly will try and avoid going back to her if we don't end up pregnant this cycle.

I am feeling fine so far in this TWW, just trying not to dwell on it.  I get labs drawn this week, but other than that my goal is to conduct life as close to normal as possible.

QOTD: Best advice I recieved TTC.... Drink until pink.  Now don't get me wrong, I am certainly not out binging but an occasional glass of red wine in my TWW is what helps me stay sane.  Wine, Cheese, and Chocolate.... I could be stuck on a deserted island for weeks if I had those three things.
