DH shared how much he wanted to go to the Pocono 400 this year, get our dads, my uncle and a few of his buddies together for it. It's June 7th-9th, he would only go down for the 400 which is the 9th and it's about 2 1/2 hours away (without the traffic). Yeah, the 9th. Mama is due on the 11th.

MH asked if I cared if he got concert tickets for the 7th. I'm due on the 4th. Uhh, hello?!? What's wrong with them some days?

Haha - he may be in for a rude awakening come June. Seriously though, I think some guys don't really get it until they are holding a little baby in their arms.

Hahaha yeah I literally hit him upside the head when he told me the dates.

After thinking about it though I might give him the go-ahead. I have a very strong feeling Sam is going to come early, very possibly end of May/beginning of June. If the 7th or 8th rolls around and there's zip for progress then I'll still have him go, if he wants to. But if he's born that weekend of if it looks like he will be, DH will have to be content missing it.

I completely agree with this. DH was clueless about ...well... EVERYTHING until the baby was born. And there was simply no explaining or convincing him or some things, I just had to let him see for himself.

My favorite was that he thought I'd go back to work, and he'd also work (from home) full time, plus take care of the baby throughout the day as needed. Like, he thought he'd pull a bassinet up beside his desk and work while she slept, taking a break to tend to her as needed, and then get right back to working. By the time she was a month old, he admitted that he was basically delusional. Haha!

MH came home the other week and told me he'd offered to host his home brew club meeting at our house in July (my due date is June 21). I just very gently reminded him that we will have a newborn and I really doubt that I'll be up to hosting 30 guys (strangers to me) for an evening of beer drinking. His response? "Well, it's summer. We'll probably mostly be on the deck." Silly husbands!

This vaguly reminds me of my Mom's story of my birth. My Dad spent the entire week with her, and the day she told him to just go ahead and go ice fishing... was my birthday. I was 2 days early, and he missed my birth.

I'm the clueless one in our family, thank goodness DH has brains! My brothers invited my DH to go camping for 5 days at the end of June, I told him sure go ahead! DH said no way, I could either deliver late and he would miss it or he'd be leaving his brand new baby for a few days which is not ok with him.

I was informed that DH will be going to Chicago to speak at the E-commerce convention in June 7-10. I am due on the 14th. I get that this would be great for his career, and resume, but I am still freaked out that he will be a couple thousand miles away.

Not to mention he is going on a fishing trip to AK for a week in July where there is no communication as they stay on a hotel that is floating on a barge in the middle of the ocean.

We'll just have to see how it all works out.

I also told MH to go ahead and get the tickets but he has to be fully aware that is she isn't born yet or if we're still in the hospital (even coming home that day) he isn't going anywhere. He totally understood that. I think he has his fingers crossed for the end of May. I also made sure I told him don't to even think about asking when the time gets here, he needs to make the call on his own, and no pouting!!!
