Why wait for april showers? Crying Now

Well I got my bfn offically from my RE and my WTF appt scheduled. I must say that I had a gut feeling since last Monday that it didn't work 3dp3dt. Once I got the news from the embriologist that my 2 out of 4 embryos stopped growing it all went down hill. Don't get me wrong I am very optimistic and have been positive this entire 1st cycle. It was just a gut feeling I had that I couldn't shake.

Now I want to weigh my options and see other doctors. I really liked my doctor and a few of the nurses. I do however feel like there was added stress for no reason. I had been telling my office since Oct 2012 that I could only do IVF because I lost my tubes. They didn't hear me until Jan 2013 so it delayed my insurance and start of my 1st cycle. Also, I was in the dark on everything, how many resting follicles, how many large, what they look for, what to expect. I think because my insurance pays for my cycle that it was more about the money. Anyway, its over and it was a learning experience. I feel strong enough to start my next cycle less stressed and with better understanding. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for listening ladies.

Re: Why wait for april showers? Crying Now

  • I'm sorry about the bad news. I am glad you feel good enough to keep moving forward! I hope you decide which doctor is right for you. I would not deal well with being kept in the dark. You deserve more than that. We have enough to worry about. They should console your fears when they can. Good luck moving forward!

Ugh, I'm sorry this cycle didn't work.  This whole thing is such a learning process.  Sometimes you have to go through it once to figure out what you do/don't want from your RE.  It makes sense to find someone who will do what you need, and give you the information you need, to feel comfortable.

Was your RE not listening about the tubes, or was it your insurance?  Even though we knew exactly where our problem is (MFI) insurance still made us jump through hoops and testing before they would cover IVF.  Our RE thought it was foolish, but was going to dot all the i's and cross the t's so we wouldn't get stuck with a bill at the end.  It ended up delaying our cycle by a few months too.

  • My insurance company sent over 12 prereqs before they would pay for IVF. My dh and I were trying to get it all done in Oct to start in Nov. My RE office is closed in Dec for all transfers/retrevials. Well no one in the office was listening about my tubes nurse run office and when it can for the last prereq to be fulfilled it was the dye in the tubes test. I told them I told have any tubes. A week later my insurance was approved, that week fell after my cycle and into Dec. There were so many signs I ignorged. I should have stop way ahead of the cycle. Now to add insult to injury they are hold my crio freeze deposit ranson until my insurance pays off the bills. Wow!

  • Ugh, I feel your pain.  The whole process is a learning journey about the ins and outs of fert treatments and about ourselves.   Regardless of where you are in this process you always learn something.  Either way, I am glad you feel stronger anymore knowledgable about the process.   Give your clinic feed back. Tell them what happened.  My clinic does surveys every 6 months to check on all sorts of things and I have seen changes from it.

Insurance is such a blessing and a curse.  My first IVF cycle was cancelled because none of my eggs fertilized and my clinic wasn't allowed to "rescue ICSI" because it was an insurance cycle.  We knew beforehand that my DH had low morph but ICSI wasn't initially approved, so they told us to start over with the caveat that next time they could ICSI and have it covered by insurance.  Ugh. What a pain and a waste of time and $.

I hope that your next leg of the journey is less stressful for you and more successful!!! Good luck.

Me = 36 with PCOS and 1 tube removed for a cyst and adhesions
DH = 35 with low morphology

April '09 IVF (antagonist protocol) = 5R5M, none fertilized, cancelled at ET
    May/June '09 IVF/ICSI = 6R6M6F, 2ET on 6.18.09, 1 frostie, Beta on
    6.30.09 = 51 OMG!! Beta #2 = 167 Beta #3 = 2630!!!!! An uneventful pregnancy.
3.16.10 a healthy beautiful miracle boy born via unscheduled c-section

Now on the quest for another, so our dear son is not alone.

    May/June '12 IVF/ICSI (antagonist protocol) =10R9M9F, 1ET = BFN, 2 frosties
Aug '12 FET, 1ET= beta hell, 2 rounds of methotrexate, 4 months later Hcg < 2
    Jan/Feb '13 IVF/ICSI (long lupron protocol) = 18R18M18F, 1ET = BFN, 10 frosties
Apr '13 FET w 2ET (one from '09 and one newer) = (strep throat during 2ww) biochemical = BFN
June '13 FET w 2ET = 1 baby boy lost at 10w, D/E with karyotyping, loss due to monosomy 21.
Karyotyping of me and DH negative for a balance translocation.
    Dec '13 FET w 2ET, BFP!!!! 12/26 beta #1 10dp5dt = 781, beta 2 12dpt= 2234 could this be real?!
      Not giving up yet.
    5 frosties on ice.

Truly realizing how much of a miracle my son is and praying this will be a sibling for him.
