Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How do I clear Baby's nose???

My LO is almost 6 months and is constantly congested.  i have been using saline drops, and while they help some, she still is very stuffed up and often has trouble sleeping because of it.  Anyone have a good idea to really help clear out the mucus?

Suction bulb. Works wonders for us and LO actually loves it becuase I think she now realizes it helps her breath better =) We also use the saline drops with that.

Same here.  We also keep a cool mist humidifier running in LO's room.

  • I can not recommend enough Nose Frida.  It works a million times better than a regular bulb.   It looks gross, but there is a filter.   I buy them for friends now all the time.

  • Our pedi recommended giving LO a little bit of juice (one oz. juice/one oz. water) to thin out think nasal mucous.  We only do this when her mucous is really bad--for a while she seemed to be constantly congested and it wasn't a cold. The juice just gives LO a little extra hydration.  We also use saline drops and a bulb syringe.

    This!

  • Upon waking up with a congested nose (even after the cold mist humidifier had been running all night), we would go into the bathroom and shut the door with the shower running on hot. This loosens the stuff up and sometimes I would suction after that.

I agree!!! I use this and then use a baby Q-Tip to get the remainder out. But this is only a temporary fix, I would ask your pediatrician on how to prevent the congestion

  • If you use a regular suction bulb, use one from the doctor's office (if you can get one). They're bigger, and easier to squeeze.
