If you're home alone (without DH/SO) do you answer the door? A friend from church just stopped by to give me something and I had to peek out the side window to see who it was before I went do the door. I pretty much never answer the door if DH isn't home.
What about you?
Why?
Re: Do you answer the door?
I live on the second floor, so people have to buzz to enter. I'll answer the buzzer, but if I'm not expecting someone, I generally don't let anyone in the building.
City living/fear of scams.

My door is always locked during the day, especially when DH is OOT. If I'm not expecting anyone, I'll peek through the window and see who it is. If it's someone I don't know I don't generally answer.
My reasoning... the movie "Law Abiding Citizen." I'm paranoid. Although, I was paranoid before this movie came out.

If I do something else and don't want to stop, I don't open. But that is not what you meant i gather.
I am not scared, I just feel very safe where I am and like I can deal with an intruder if i had to.
And then there is Shadow. Between the two of us, I pity the fool choosing our house to break into or whatever.
This, exactly,
ETA: We have two entrances, and people we know always come to the back door.
I am sure I could not deal with an intruder and I think that's what scares me. I would do everything in my power but I'm just not big or strong and my Australian Shepherd puppy isn't big enough to scare anyone off yet. She will be someday though haha
Haha, oops! Our doorbell doesn't work, but I didn't even realize we had one for the longest time. We kept getting notices that they'd tried to deliver packages and nobody was home when I'd been here the whole time. It was a pain in the butt to then have to go pick it up. We finally realized what was happening ("ringing" a doorbell that looked incredibly broken and made no sound and then leaving without knocking) so DH covered up the doorbell with tape. Now they knock and we haven't missed any deliveries.

The front door? Usually not. We don't use our front door and neither do our friends/family. Plus, our home gym (elliptical and some free weights) would have to be moved to open the door.
The back door? I peak out the window to see who it is.

I'm the same with my phone also. I don't trust anyone anymore. We can be introverts/scaredy cats together!
LOL
This is me exactly. My husband complains that I'm scared of all people and I think everyone is going to cut off my head and bury me in the back yard. He is correct!!
Prove it!! I want pet pictures or your lying. Rotts are my favorite breed
I do this too and it drives DH crazy. Around here people leave their doors unlocked all of the time and their keys in the car ignition. I have to lock up everything. As soon as I close a door I lock it which has caused DH to be locked out on many occasions (almost every day during summer if he is working outside). This behavior is a hold over from living in California.
Yeah it took me awhile to get DH to the point where he locks the door every time too. He wasn't really on board with it until a few years ago when a bank down the street was robbed. The robber fled into our neighborhood and went to a random house that happened to have its door unlocked. He held the family inside hostage for several hour before giving up. DH started being mindful of locking the doors after that.
Stuff like that isn't very common here, but you never know. If a criminal wants to get into my home they probably will, but I'm certainly not going to make it easy for them.
This exactly.
Also, as pp said, I probably already know if someone is walking up to my door because my dog goes nuts. His bark is definitely bigger than his bite, though. But people at the door don't know that...when they see him, they just see a pitbull mix, not a cute lovable pooch, and that's fine with me.
This is me exactly. That beginning scene freaked me out.
