Little red bumps

Good morning everyone, quick question. Yesterday afternoon I noticed little red bumps on LO tummy and back, a little under his neck and behind his knees. And the area he got vaccinated it red and puffy, he was vaccinated Feb 22nd, it was two weeks ago this Tuesday. Do u think its connected? Could it be because he ate something? He had cantaloupe for snack, he has had it once before? I don't know, he does not have a fever, he is eating fine. Should I call the pedi, wait until tomorrow and watch the bumps today? TIA

Re: Little red bumps

  • We had the same thing pop up on Friday. Grants vaccinations were on Feb. 19. He was not fussy or itchy. He also had a red puffy spot at one of the injection sites.

I was told it is common from the chicken pox vaccine also known as VAR. In our case our doctor thought Grant was allergic to the amoxicillin he started on Feb. 19th for an ear infection.

Grant did have a few bumps on his belly for a few days prior to it being everywhere. I mean these were head to toe red dots and some were slightly raised.

If no fever and no fussiness and no itching, I think you'll be fine to wait til tomorrow. I am not a doctor tho.

  • Two weeks after Gs vaccinations he broke out in a rash. It started on his tummy and then spread all over his body including his face. He didn't have a fever and I remembered pedi saying it could happen. I called when it was everywhere and she said it was normal. Apparently 1 in 20 react this way and he was the 1. He also had chicken pox looking bumps at the other vaccination site, normal as well. It all went away about two weeks later.
  • DS had this last week, with a 103 fever.  He was home with me Monday and Tuesday and cranky through Thursday - he was great over the weekend, but slept more than usual.  I think he is totally past it now - but it took about a week to get through the vax reaction (which happened a week and a half post-shots).  Hang in there!

  • I definitely think it could be from the vaccines. My Pedi said if he got a reaction it wouldn't be until 10-14 days afterwards. You can call to ease your mind though!
