Buying a used BrestFriend pillow?

Mobile users: Buying a used BrestFriend pillow?

I have an opportunity to buy a used BrestFriend pillow for only $15. I just want to make sure it's safe to do so.. it supposedly hasn't been used. The cover has only been washed. My only worry is that I can't put the pillow itself in the washer to ensure it's clean. Would spraying it with lysol be efficient enough?

    I'd do it. I've bought a used twin nursing pillow and two used Boppies with no issues. I know you can wash Boppies, so it might actually be possible to wash the actual pillow if it makes you feel better.  My twin pillow is just foam and I bought it used (although she said she never used it much), used it quite a bit for 9ish months, let a friend borrow it for a while, and now have it out again to use with this LO.  I've washed the cover, but that's it and the foam part is in perfectly good shape.

    Provided it was in a smoke free house, I'd be fine with it and wash the cover with a scent free laundry soap.  I wouldn't spray it with lysol as I would be more concerned about the chemicals.

     Buying one used is a good idea as people have mixed success with My Breast Friend so at least you are not spending a lot of money on it.  Some people swear by it.  I always prefered the Boopy and never really used My Breast Friend which I had on loan from a friend.

    I would wash the cover really good. Then if your worried about the actual pillow put it in a garbage bag and throw it in the freezer for a few days or outside if you life in a cold climate, and that will kill the germs. You could just throw the whole thing in the washer, on a delicate cycle or hand wash it in the tub with tide and warm water.

    Yeah I know, but I'm a germaphobe.... That's why I said "if it was me". The goal being, hopefully it wouldn't tear up in a commercial washer bc there's no agitator. For 15 I'd give it a try.

    So I guess to add to my reply, don't do it if you care whether the pillow survives!!! LOL.
