Three years ago today

...we got The Call.

I was in a time-suck meeting and missed all efforts to contact me. DH, on the other hand, answered the agency's call on the first ring.

A few hours later we were meeting our DD, her BM, and her BGM.

This weekend we celebrated her 3rd birthday.

My how time flies...

    Amazing, I remember that so clearly!
    Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever!     TTC #2, Operative hysteroscopy March 2011; IVF #1 long lupron protocol April 2011-cancelled due to poor response; IVF #2 flare protocol May 2011=hospitalization due to abdominal hemorrhage during ER and no fert due to MFI issues. Moving onto international adoption from Moldova January 2013!

    What a special memory to have. People usually remember who/what/where/when they were doing when something bad happens, it's really sweet that you have that for a positive moment in your life. Happy 3 years!

    Do you remember driving there or is it all a fog?

    I got back to my desk to an e-mail from him. The subject line was "Call me, we got placed. It's an emergency [meaning an emergency placement]" I called him, and his first words were, "So, do you want to be a mommy?" He gave me some details, then told me to call the SW. My boss wandered in and I told him (ha, before our families), and anyone else who came in got to hear the news. I called the SW, got the details, and prepped to head home.

    I worked an hour from home, so I told DH to throw any baby clothes we had into the wash, and I'd grab lunch on the way. We had about 20 minutes to call a florist for a couple of bouquets, pick them up, and drive to the hospital (2 hours away). I remember sitting in the parking lot calling work about FMLA and canceling my eyebrow wax appointment! We ended up waiting an hour or so for the SW, so we hung out in the lobby with these GIANT floral bouquets until she got there.
