LO can hold her own bottle now. She just hasn't learned how to keep tilting it up when the level gets lower. Obviously, I don't leave her with a bottle. She likes holding it and putting it in her mouth, so I let her... I just take over when it's getting too low.
My LO can hold it most of the time, but at times he gets distracted by my hair or wants to play with my fingers so I do help him part of the time. He also can't tilt it yet when it gets close to empty so I have to do that for him too.
It really depends on the kid. Some figure it out really early while some never do. It seemed like DS only held a bottle a couple months before we weaned him off right at a year old.
Our daughter is 4 1/2 months old and can hold her bottle when she feels like it. I still hold on to it too to make sure there isn't any air getting into the nipple but she love to grab the bottle or hold onto my hands holding it too. Every baby figures it out at different times though.

This.. I let him hold it supervised. Eli is 4 months & 3 weeks
W has been attempting to hold it more, but a full bottle is still way too heavy and he does not have the muscle control to keep it in his mouth. I think it'll be a few more months before he gets the hang of it. I let him put his hands around the sides and I hold the end so he can keep practicing.
