Any Hemnes line owners provide their opinions on the quality? We have the Birkland dresser & nightstand and have been really pleasantly surprised with the quality. We are planning to re-use that furniture for the nursery for LO2, and get a whole new bedroom set for DD1 including a twin size bed. Birkland doesn't make a twin bed, but Hemnes does. So thinking of buying the Hemnes bed, nightstand, and 8 drawer low dresser for her new toddler room. Any reviews? Or, if you bought a set elsewhere, where from if you recommend it?
Re: Ikea Hemnes Opinions
When it's time for DD to be in a twin bed we plan on getting a hemnes.

We have several Hemnes dressers including one in the nursery. People like them around here, but I they are just ok. IMO, I think they are a decent buy for kids furniture because I don't care for heirloom quality or the price for something that will likely be abused and replaced in a few years to keep up with changing needs and tastes.
But they definitely show weaknesses compared to conventional quality wood furniture. We have a Hemnes dresser in gray-brown and one in brown-black finish and the solid pine is soft and easily dented and scratched. Obviously the construction is DIY with plastic anchors, screws and cams mainly on solid pine with some particleboard for bottom of drawers and back. The drawer slides are ok, but pulling the furniture out from the wall (to reach a plug or secure a furniture strap) can cause the drawers to get stuck until you square up the sides again. Aside from that, the furniture works just fine. I have no regrets about buying it for the children's room, but if I were to invest into my bedroom, I'd want something more of more substantial quality.
I agree with this. We just bought a Hemnes dresser for our nursery and I am totally happy with it. But I'm not expecting something which will last for many years. It's great for the price, but if you want something which is high quality splurge a little and buy something made with real wood.
I have had the 8 drawer Hemnes for about 8 years (since I was pregnant with DS who is almost 8). It's held up quite well over the years especially since we have moved A LOT... One of the drawers is starting to have an issue, but I asked the last time I was at Ikea & they said they can give me the replacement hardware, so next time I go I will be doing this.
I recently bought DS the 3 drawer white one and I really like the finish and how it doesn't seem to scratch easily.
