can anyone please share their induction stories/questions with me? I'm currently 40w2d and had my 40 week appointment on Friday. I am 0cm dilated and 0% effaced-very "unripe". My doctor scheduled an induction date of the 11th (starting the Cervadil at 11:45 that night to deliver the 12th-13th) provided everything is good at the NST i have Monday (so far baby has been measuring exactly on time) and from what I can see my odds are fairly high of getting a C section since i will most likely go into this with an unripe cervix. I will be 41w3d when they start the induction, most likely 41w4-5d when i deliver so this isn't really an elective induction.
can anyone share their induction stories and let me know how it went? Unless my body decides to spontaneously go into labor on its own in the next week, i'm thinking that will be the route I go and I'm very very nervous.
Re: STMs induction questions and stories
I went on my own at 40 weeks and 5 days. I was not dilated at all until 40 weeks and 4 days. A lot of people don't dilate prior. I would not worry yet all! You have plenty of ime to go into labor yourself or at least have a ripe cervix. GL!
I was induced with DS#1, and probably will be this time, unless he comes on his own before 39w because of GD. My induction was great. I went in at 5am (I was checked in the office the day before and I was 2cm, so I didn't need cervidil). I got my IV started, got admitted, in my room, settled, etc.
At 7am my doctor came in, and we started the pitocin. Around 9am he came in, broke my water (I think I was 4cm then) and asked if I wanted an epidural. I did, and I wasn't in terrible pain yet, so I waited. About an hour later I asked and got my epidural. It worked great. Then DS's heart rate started to drop so they had me lay on my side which brought it up. However I had to stay in that position to keep it up. My epi only worked on that side because all the medication pooled on that side, so that wasn't much fun. Around noon I felt a lot of pressure, so my nurse checked me and I was fully dilated. I started pushing around 1215, and he was born at 1231. I had an episiotomy because DS's shoulders were stuck and they needed to get him out, otherwise everything went pretty smooth.
I was induced for HELLP Syndrome at 39 weeks 5 days with my first. I was zero dilated and from what I remember them saying "high and tight." They gave me pitocin starting at 5am, the doctor broke my water at 10am, I got my epidural at 11am and DD was born two hours later at 1:04pm.
So, I had lots of strikes against me and still ended with a pretty perfect labor and delivery story. Sending good vibes your way. Don't stress... I know easier said than done.
Went in the night before at half a centimeter for cervidil. The next morning I think I was maybe 1 cm.
I was 4 cm around 1 pm and stalled out for awhile.. Checked at 4pm and still the same. I was checked again at 7 pm and was 6 cm, things were finally picking up! Started pushing at 10 pm and DS was born at 11:19 pm.
It did take a while but fortunately there weren't any complications. Good luck!
