Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Suddenly off of formula?

Hi!nbsp; Is anyone else's LO selfweening?nbsp; Our little one is 10 months tomorrow.nbsp; It literally started on Wednesday that he's barely interested in formula anymore.nbsp; I had already started him on 3 meals a day, so I've upped the amount of table food, because he will not finish a bottle.nbsp; He went from easily sucking down 30 oz a day to maybe taking 20 oz and I really think it's even less.nbsp; Our doctor said this may happen, but it was crazy how it seemed to occur overnight.nbsp; I'd love to hear if anyone else has gone through this weening.

Re: Suddenly off of formula?

  • DD seems to be doing this right now. It's driving me insane because she doesn't eat enough solids to make up the difference but resists formula. So she ends up waking several times a night for a bottle now and still won't take more than 3 or 4 oz at a time.

  • DD is decreasing her amount of formula in proportion to what she is getting in table food. I am concerned as research says that formula/bm is supposed to be thesis source of nutrition. I am planning on talking to the dr about this Monday at her 9 month appt

  • I agree with pp that said it might be an illness or it could be teething. Both of those can cause an infant to want less of the bottle.

our lil guy was the same when teething... hurts to suck on the bottles.  soon as he was over it he was eating just fine again.

  • DS has gone on two sudden bottle strikes/drastic stops in bottle intake. For us they were both due to teething. He quit taking bottles entirely with the first tooth. It was not fun.

  • Thank you for the info! Teething makes total sense!
