Would you be worried?

I only counted kicks one day officially but my baby usually moves or kicks every few hours. Today I woke up at 8am and didn't feel anything at all until the afternoon, then a few strong kicks... Then a little while later a small movement and kick... Then nothing... It's 9pm... I laid down and read a few books out loud. This usually makes her move and i got nothing... Then I got up, jumped around, ate some candy and laid down on my left side and I can feel some pressure on my left side and maybe felt 1 kick. I am almost 27 weeks. I know that this may be nothing but I'm a little worried. What do you guys think?

Re: Would you be worried?

  • I think its ok. You have felt kicks today. You officially don't count kicks till 3rd tri which I do know is right around the corner. I would give it till tomorrow and see. If your really concerned call the on call nurse/Dr.

  • My doctor never had me do kick counts with DS.  As long as I felt him moving each day he said I was good.

Some days babies are more active and others they just chill.  I wouldn't worry.

  • Ok thanks for all of your input. I think I will let it be tonight and see how things go tomorrow. I psych myself out sometimes reading horror stories online.

  • LO is old enough to start developing ''sleep-patterns''. Sure they won't be the same day-to-day but LO should be sleeping about 16 hours a day right about now.
"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
  • Yeah I guess it just worried me because she usually is more active. But maybe today was just a lazy day like pp said.

  • The same thing has happened to me the last two days and I am not that worried as long as he moves sometime during the day I am happy

  • I realize that I'm about 4 weeks behind you, but I, too, recently had a day where I didn't feel my little one kick much.  I was really concerned because I was heading in at the end of the day for a 4d ultrasound to get a second opinion on gender and I wanted her to be moving around.  Well, at my ultrasound I discovered that she was turned so she was facing my spine with her back facing out.  I have a posterior placenta and she was snuggled up against it like it was a pillow.  Maybe your LO has just turned and that's why you're having trouble feeling movement.  Hopefully you'll feel more kicking tomorrow.

  • I was a worry wart about movement with my son but not so much with this one as I realize that that mostly everything is normal and the baby is just fine. My son had quiet days and I would frantically call the doctor and when they would check him out, he was just fine. This baby has had some quiet days too but since I went the theough this before I don't think anything of it. I think you really only need to worry when you are further along and you can't feel the baby. At this gestational age they still have room to wiggle and move around so even though they are moving you may not be able to feel it.

  • I've noticed my little guy has started sleep cycles. He'll have hours where I don't feel anything. Right now, he's awake and kicking up a storm. I'd give the baby until tomorrow and see if things change.
  • Sorry I'm a late poster - I went to bed at 8:30 on a Saturday... oh, life has changed! This happened to me a few days ago. I didn't call my doctor because I felt crazy, but I asked a friend who is a medical resident and she agreed it was fine. Maybe if you have a doppler, you could listen in? I hadn't used mine since Christmas, but seeing the heartbeat in the 140s really helped me to sleep. The next day, everything was back to normal, and today, LO woke me up at 5am kicking so I guess we're back on track! Smile

    Hope you're feeling better soon!

  • Unt your doc tells you to start counting kicks, I wouldn't worry. You felt him today. That's a good thing.

  • Thanks for all of your advice and input. It really put my mind at ease. I think that she may have turned or been quiet, like you guys said. Today she is kicking like CRAZY!!! So, I am glad I didn't completely freak out and go to the emergency room or something. :)
