Grinding Teeth

Grant only has 2 on top and 1 on the bottom and his latest thing is to grind them together when he is awake. I really want him to stop. He has countless chewy toys, but he just doesn't really use them. He still has coordination problems and lots of difficulty using his arms and hands.

Suggestions? Can anyone commiserate?

  • I can commiserate! Nat does that, too, and it annoys the heck out of me! I keep thinking she's going to chip a tooth so as soon as she starts I distract her.

  • Yep from what I gather it's normal. They're exploring the new feeling in their mouthes.

  • LO does this too. It drives me crazy, I try and distract him and give him something else to do. But I can't seem to break the habit. Good luck

  • DD did this for a whle... it made me weak in the knees - I could hear it across the room!  I think once he gets used to those teeh being there, he'll knock it off.

  • Logan does this! The sound drives me crazy. He's usually walking around when he does it.

  • Julian did it for a couple of weeks or so when he first had enough teeth to do it (lol). He has just recently started doing it again, but he's been teething and #7 just popped through yesterday, so I'm hoping he'll stop again now! I just ignore it because drawing attention only makes it worse.
  • I am so glad this is a 'thing'! I was going to call the pedi about it. The sound gives me chills. Yuck!
