Food Allergy

Fussiness question

How fussy was your infant with food allergies?

We deal with major food allergies with our first daughter. We found out about her allergies at 3 months of age. I remember her crying all of the time.

We just had daughter 2, so of course I am analyzing everything. She is a very happy baby, but does have mucus in her stools sometimes and, this morning, she had some green in her stools. She is almost 6 weeks old and is exclusively bf. I have an oversupply, so I know those symptoms of mucus and green stools can be attributed to that too.

I am assuming allergies, but she isn't a fussy baby...yet. Anyone have a happy baby with allergies? Thanks!

Re: Fussiness question

  • My son was mostly happy but at times act like something was bothering him. Turned out it was dairy, soy, egg allergy. He also had green mucousy stools. One time there was bright red blood in it and other times the blood was so little you really had to look for it. The blood didn't cone until about 8 weeks so I would suggest you be on the look out and really check the diapers well in case the blood is only tiny streaks. Good luck!

  • My daughter was happy as could be. She always had slight eczema. But she never was fussy or anything.

She is allergic to egg, peanut, sesame and almond.

  • Darn! I was hoping being fussy was a definite with allergies. I really don't want to go through this again.

  • DS started with a red rash/blotchy face every time he nursed. He also had horrific diaper rash and spit up frequently. He didn't start getting really fussy until the spitting up developed into reflux.
