My grandmother was Mary Jo, and I really want to honor her with a Mary double name. I want something fresh or unexpected, but still pretty! I know a ton of Mary Elizabeth's and Mary Katherines. Our top 2 Mary name right now are:
Mary Caroline
Or
Mary Paige
Which one would you choose?
Thanks so much for the help, we have 2 weeks left and have been going around in naming circles! I need help saying goodbye to one of these names and finally settle on one!
Re: Which Mary double name?
Mary Caroline! If you are going to do the Mary double name you need that classic 50's flow.
My grandmother & her sisiter were Mary Pat & Mary Julia.
Mary Jane!
My favorite has always been Mary Catherine, I think Mary Caroline is kind of cute.

I like Mary Paige. Caroline is too long for me with Mary. I considered using Mary Jean.
I had a student named Mary Charles. I LOVE the pairing of a classic girl name with a traditional masculine name. Just a thought.
We have a Mary Jo in our family too.
What about Mary Josephine?
Could be shortened to Mary Josie or Mary Jo.
I've also met Mary's paired with maiden names.
I like Mary Paige (I know a 20-something called Katy Paige and love it!).
Aside, my aunt is a nun, and so many of the older ones are Mary Margaret, Mary Catherine, etc. I did always like the alliteration of Mary Margaret.

I think as a double FN - its easier to say Mary Paige.
I like PP suggestion of Mary Claire - and know one in real life - and it is easy to say out loud.
Also like Mary Kate as a double FN.
Or you could formally name her Mary Katherine as separate FN / MN combo and call simply call her Mary Kate if that makes sense.
To me, Mary Caroline is too much of a mouthful to say out loud every time you say your child's name... and you say your kids name A LOT more than I ever realized!
Hope that makes sense. Basically I would choose a short middle name if you will be verbally calling her "Mary X".

I have to go with Mary Paige. To me, it's short and sweet. It's cute for a girl and nice for a woman.
I agree with pp that says Mary Caroline is a bit of a mouthful for a first name.Mary Caroline is very pretty for a fn-mn combo, but too long for a fn.
With all that said, they are both nice.
Mary Paige
Mary Caroline is a mouthful!
Mary Caroline is cute, but the nickname Mary Cary comes to my mind, and I HATE that.
My vote is for Mary Paige.
