I'm normally just a lurker over here, but was hoping to get some insight from those of you who extended BFing on demans.
When you got your first PP AF what was it like? A is 15 months old and we BF on demand (frequently) and overnight. We also bedshare. It's kept AF away, but yesterday and today I'm cramping and now this morning I've had some light spotting, but nothing more. If it doesn't pick up I'm going to POAS tomorrow morning, but I was wondering if this is on par with what you've experienced for a first PP AF.
I have unconfirmed endo, and my previous AFs have all been labor like pain on day one and a lot of bleeding, so this is especially weird to me.
Thanks!
Re: XP First PP AF Question
I'm going to piggyback on your post. I didn't get AF until 17 mos. PP and that was last month. She hasn't shown her face at all this month. Unless there's immaculate conception, I'm not KU.
Would love to hear others' experiences with AF after ExBF.
I got mine back at 13 months. Like you, before pregnancy I had awful periods. No endo, but very painful cramping that caused vomiting.
My postpartum periods have been fantastic. A smidge heavier than normal (as in a heavy flow for a bit longer than before) but completely pain/cramp free.
I've heard, and I don't know whether there is any medical research to back this up or if it's just anecdotal, that a lot of women report endo issues subsiding or greatly reduced after having a baby.
No endo, but 19m PP, first period started today. Thus far it's been light spotting that's been increasing over the day, and very mild back pain. Pretty much exactly like pre-baby. And coincidentally I POAS yesterday am, so I know I'm not KU.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!

I wasn't exclusively BFing (I messed up my supply) and I got my first PP AF in December, 2 months PP. It seemed like my regular periods, maybe even lighter (I actually thought it was still the postpartum bleeding from having my DS, but it wasn't). Now the ones I got in January and February were pure h*ll. They weren't regular, and they left me in a lot of pain, like when I was 12. I'm hoping to not get one this month (we're TTC).
As for POAS, I would wait at least a week, since it can take a while for your body to start releasing the pregnancy hormones, so even if this was implantation bleeding, the test would most likely come back negative.
Good Luck!
Thanks for all the input, ladies. It was, in fact, her dreaded return. For those still waiting on theirs and curious, I still had some pain, but not nearly as debilitating as in the past, and it's been relatively light.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
