Baby's on a 4 day cycle

This may sound strange, but DS is on what I call a '4 day cycle'.
Day 1. Wakes up @ 6am (maybe as late as 7). Usually pretty content to let me eat, the he eats (EBF). We play, talk, dance, he eats again, maybe a 5 minute cat nap. This continues throughout the day. On day 1 he may total 1 hours worth of sleep during the day. He then has last feed of day around 9pm and goes to bed, sleeping until @ 1 am, the eat, sleep until 5, eat and sleep until 6 or 7am...
Day 2. Wakes up, I eat, he eats, we play etc, he eats @ 10am, sleeps on me about 10-20 minutes, awake, play, eat etc. he has a few 10-20 minute naps totalling an hour to hour and a half until it's bedtime, then same as day 1.
Day 3. Wakes up around 5ish, eats, naps for an hour, then up around 7. I eat, feed him, you get the idea...but on day 3 he will play hard and nap for an hour a couple times a day. Last feeding between 8 and 9pm, then to bed.
Day 4. Wakes up between 5 and 6, demands to be fed, sleep until 7:30ish, wakes up, play, eat, sleep about 1.5 to 2 hours, wake, play, eat, sleep 1 hour minimum, wake, play, eat, sleep...etc all day long. Day 4 seems he is only awake for a couple hours total. He also has a nap from 5-6:30pm and sometimes another short one around 7:30pm before bed.
I let him set the schedule and he is flexible if we have to go out. As I mentioned, EBF, SAHM. He is always a happy guy, except when demanding food. And this has been the way things have been since birth. He is 3 months old today.
I have mentioned this to his doctor, who said as long as he's happy and is growing well (which he is) then nothing to worry about (not that I was worried since my DD was similar).
Has anyone got a LO with a similar trend? It makes me so tired by day 3...lol.

I don't know if my DS is on a 4 day cycle, but he is somewhat similar to your DS. He generally takes short naps most days, has some days where he only naps for a total of 1 hr. or so all day, and then will throw in a day where he wants to nap the day away!
The inconsistency was driving me nuts, but now I just go with it because I figure that's the way he's going to be! I tried so hard getting him on a schedule (more for my convenience), but he wasn't having it and he's happy with what he's doing now, so as long as he's happy then I'm happy! It's just so different to me because my DD was so predictable every day with eating and sleeping.
How long did this day to day inconsistency last for your DD? It would make it easier to plan around when I know what to expect with him on a day to day basis!
My DD kept this up quite some time. After she hit 6 mos she basically stopped napping during the day at all. She only had one short nap a week (20-60 minutes).
I was one tired mommy.
