Well, LO has been rolling from side to side for a while, but this past week she's made it to her tummy.
It's impossible for her to stay on her back when I put her down, and she'll get to her stomach only to cry because she can't get from her tummy to her side again. But I've woken up a few times as found her asleep on her tummy.
I asked my pediatrician and he said once she's able to roll over easily both ways it's okay to leave her where she is.
Well WTH? She won't stay in her back, it isn't happening. So I look up sleep positioners and get bombarded with the horrible risks linked to them.
I then find all terrible sleep risks like bumper pads, which is the only thing keeping my daughter from banging around in her crib because she wiggles all around that thing. Not sleeping, just playing or hanging out
On top of that I'm trying to transition her from her pack n play in our room to her crib at night, and with all this worry building up in my head and sleep deprivation, she's also been fussy with gettibg over a cold I'm exhausted.
Anyone else going through or already dealt with tummy sleeping thing?
I don't want to be paranoid, but its so easy to be with google throwing horrible things at you.
Re: Rolling Tummy Sleeping
FFC: My kids have been tummy sleepers from day one.
Once your child has decent head control, can push themselves up, and can roll, then there's no stopping them. If they can do all of that, then I, personally, wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure their crib is as safe as possible. Bumper pads that you're comfortable with; no blankets or other loose objects. I know the load of worrying that comes with parenting and the over abundance of information available. You really do have to let some of it go.
I actually placed a rolled up bedsheet (held in place with duct tape), underneath his sheet - but more to held him feel "smug" without swaddling him (bc he kept unraveling it, and then pulling it over his face!). I felt more comfortable with that personally, then placing anything above the sheet. But to each his own!
I agree that if they are rolling, then it's okay if they sleep on their stomachs (we made sure the sheet underneath is quite flat, so he can easily roll all over the place if he really wants to).
BUT my nerves were shot anytime I slept more than two hours - I was sure my DS must have died if he was that quiet for that long! I invested in the Snuza Go, and I love it! I only check on him a few times a night - versus failing to sleep bc I am so worried.
I think worrying is part of mommyhood - but there are things that can help alleviate some of it ~ hope you find something that helps
