Hey ladies, I'm 33 weeks and have been put on bed rest for the remaining weeks of my pregnancy. I've had complications with bleeding and having contractions that I still can't feel. I've been given magnesium sulfate to stop contractions and steroids to speed up baby's lung development. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I'm just looking for someone who's in the same boat. How are you handling it, how are you limiting your stress, any advice?

Re: Preterm labor bed rest
I am now 34 weeks and have been on bed-rest for 2.5 weeks, having pre-term contractions for over 3 weeks. I had the steroid shots 2 weeks ago.
It is rough but take comfort in knowing that at 33 weeks things are pretty safe...there are many moms that start having this around 22 or so weeks. You've got the steroids in so baby has that advantage as well.
I would also say at this point there is a benefit of not feeling the contractions! I've had days where I seriously feel like doing a home c-section to make the pain go away!!
As for the bed rest part gather ALL the pillows you have in the house and find the best positioning on them all...pillows will be your best friend. I've taken over the livingroom. But sleep in bedroom on a separate bed we brought in from another room so I am near my husband but can do my own thing on sleepless nights without waking him as much.
Move the furniture to have everything close. Every few days we rearrange the furniture for a change of scenery!! It really does make a difference to have the couch over here a few days then over by that wall!
Oh yuck. I had the exact same thing - 33 weeks, contractions that I didn't feel, magnesium, steroids. The only difference was that I was in the hospital because both my pregnancies were breech. The first week was the worst but after that things felt a bit more routine. As previous posts said, at least you are 33 weeks and not 23! Both of my boys were delivered at 36 weeks and are doing awesome. I called in reinforcements for my DH to help out on weekends or deliver prepared foods for him. That made me feel a bit more useful. The internet is also a wonderful thing for keeping you entertained. It's going to seem like forever, and you need to allow yourself those moments of annoyance/frustration, but baby will be here before you know it.
Also, ignore any phone calls from anyone who tells you to "enjoy these last moments of rest and quiet".
Good luck!
