Are any of your LO's in need of a hair cut yet? DS's hair in the back is so long it's starting to curl up and the hair around his ears is growing over his ears. I'm trying to figure out the best way to attempt to trim it, but....it's not going to be easy!
Re: First hair cut
we've cut a few scraggalies but haven't had a full hair cut yet...
it'll probably be closer to a year old.
I took the WAHL hair trimmers I use on DH and with the guard stil on..turned it on and ran it over where I would be cutting it to see how he would react.. he was fine just very curious and kept turning his head. This gave me a good idea on how to approach it without guards. I just used the 1 inch blade guide and zipped it up the back and sides before he got too bored and wriggily. He was in his high chair so it wasn't easy to get the back, but I plan to finish it off later ... no big deal if it takes a few days of a bit here and there till it's done.
I plan to leave the top and fringe longer becasue he has such a cute feathered fringe naturally and it suits him. DH hated chili bowl cuts and I am not keen either so this is a good cut for him at this age and safer than scissors with the wriggler. He has cute ears and I'd like to keep them lol
I've been wondering the same thing. DS's hair is naturally wavy/curls up, so 99% of the time, it's fine and out of his face and looks adorably messy. But when it gets wet/really messy from playing, his hair goes past his eyes! He also looks like he has some awesome sideburns now (because it's so long, it grows around his ears), and it has started curling sideways in the back because of his collarline, giving him a funny hairline!!!! So, since I do'nt want my poor child to look like a Wookie just because I cant stand the idea of him being old enough to need a haircut, we're definitely going to attempt it within the next month!
I just cant decided if it's better to try myself (and accidentally make him look like he got into a fight with hedgeclippers, since I am NOT skilled with hair), or take him somewhere and pray that he's ok with the noise/sights and that the person cutting his hair is skilled in dealing with babies! I've been trying to find a place that's catered to kids, but even so, I just think that 10 months is so young, and what works with 2 year olds just wont with a baby.
