I'm really wanting to stay with my midwives, and not get to 42 weeks. I've been walking between a mile and three each day, taking EPP capsules, eating pineapple, and having sex as much as I can comfortably handle. I do consider castor oil a bit too much for me (a little scared of becoming dehydrated and transferred to a hospital). Is there anything else I could be doing to get this LO to join us?
P.S. I do have an appointment Monday at which I'll have my membranes stripped.
Re: Past Due Date Help
I haven't heard of induction massage, but an acupuncture appointment could be in my near future.
I realize that I have some time, but I really don't want to end up at my local hospital. My own mother works there and understands why I don't want to give birth there. The CS rate is almost 45%, and I would not end up with a birth that even resembles what I want.
Totally understand, I did some of these induction techniques just before i was 40 weeks as I had until 40 weeks 6 days to get into a birth center otherwise I'd have to go to L&D. What I had done was called the Maya abdominal massage, maybe you could search online and see if there might be a practitioner in your area who does it. I was in New York at the time and the woman who did it also did lots of energy work and other kooky stuff but i truly believe it helped me and it was super relaxing! If that isn't possible I've heard others recommend just general prenatal massage as being helpful too.
I would take blue and black cohosh tinctures and definitely do acupressure or acupuncture.

I did acupressure at 40w6d and went into labor within 12 hours. My midwives have about a 50% success rate with the woman they recommended.
I would be careful about stripping membranes because it can lead to PROM, which can cause a malpositioned bub and lead to longer, more painful labor. Best to have your membranes break during labor.
Sending you easy labor vibes!
Nipple stimulation a couple times a day. I was pumping when my contractions started and they didn't stop until LO was born.
hang in there!
I did acupressure on myself on a Wednesday, lost my MP on Thursday, had bloody show Friday and labored all day Saturday, delivery Sunday.
If you google acupressure you will find the actual techniques, but the three I did were just above the ankle, on the ear, and between thumb and forefinger.
My friend tried acuPUNCTURE and it didn't work for her. I didn't get that far since the acupressure worked right away. Good luck!!!
I just had my daughter at 41w6d. I had my membranes stripped the day I went into labor. Hopefully it will work for you!
ETA - if it didn't work, the next step was a black and blue cohosh induction with my midwives present.
