When did you remove your steri-strips?

Just curious when everyone took them off.  Thanks ladies!

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013.  We love her to pieces.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011.  She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

  • The nurse had told me that they should fall off in a couple of weeks.  They didn't, so I took them off about 3 weeks PP.

  • I was told to wait until they started falling off on their own. They peeled off from corner to corner after a couple of weeks, so I just had my mom do most of them (she's a nurse). My Dr. pulled off the last 1 or 2 at an appointment I had.

My doctor told me the same thing. After several showers they started coming off by themselves.

  • My doc mentioned that they weren't holding anything together and could come off whenever I felt comfortable (or they fell off) when I was discharged from the hospital. I peeled them off that night. They grossed me out!

  • A friend of mine who does laser scar revision told me to wear them as long as I could and then to buy fresh steri strips at the drugstore and put new ones on and wait for those to fall off as well (so ideally wear them for a month)  he said even though the incision is healed the rubbing and pulling against it will make the scar worse and that steri strips help distribute that pressure more evenly and across a larger area to help the scar heal nicer.  I have no idea if it's true... But I'm trying it out since this was my second csecton and my first scar looked like crap! (I had my doc cut out the old one... Lol)

    This!

The scar will be larger a lot of times when removed to early. Even if the skin is closed, it can pull and it is not Healed yet so it can alter the process and end result of the scar. Incisions like that take a year to truly heal..... You can look it up.
