The luck didn't help, I think I need T & P now :(

Went to DD's pedi appt today. She's lost MORE weight. This puts her down almost a full pound in 2 months and she wasn't very big to begin with. Basically she was born at 6lbs 14oz and she's 11lbs 13oz fully clothed at almost 7 months. We had to take her in to get some blood work done and will be dropping off a urine sample in the morning. The doctor thinks we'll most likely be in the hospital on Monday to be seen by a specialist and be on watch for a few days. He doesn't think it's bf related, since she's not showing any signs of hunger and is consistently hitting all of her milestones. He doesn't even think supplementing will help, since it would probably just be masking a larger problem. We have a follow up appt on Monday morning and will hopefully have more info then, but I"m terrified. I was so devastated when I saw the scale, I almost started bawling on the spot. It's been a rough day for mommy and baby.

Apparently an array of things. Kidney function, thyroid levels, liver function, etc. He wants to rule out as much as possible at the beginning to hopefully lower the amount of tests she'll need moving forward. She isn't showing any other symptoms, so it's kind of a shot in the dark right now.

i'm sorry you're going through this. I was small (5'6") at birth and at 1 year was only 15lbs something. My parents had to do all the testing etc. Hope you get good answers.

I'm so sorry! I've been there where I wanted to cry in front of the scale. I wonder, though...wouldn't it be worth supplementing first to see what happens before having all those tests?

I hope things get worked out quickly for you!
