2nd Bday Party - Who to Invite?

We are inviting close family members and friends (and their kids) to our son's second birthday party.  In May, we moved into a new neighborhood, and a few of my neighbors have already invited us to their kids parties.  So we are also inviting the ones that we are close to.  The list is getting kind of long, but we have the room in our new house, and hopefully, the weather is nice.

What are your plans?

(Since our sons will be close in age, we will do one more party separate next year and then joint in the years following)

Re: 2nd Bday Party - Who to Invite?

  • Honestly I'm thinking his 2nd birthday is going to be smaller than his 1st birthday.  We made a big deal about his 1st birthday since it was his 1st, but I don't think we'll do a huge to-do for the 2nd.

We'll probably have a party for him next year at 3 since he'll "get it" more, but I think this year might just be a little family get together.

  • i think for his 2nd we'll have our family and friends with kids over - but keep it pretty small.

we were thinking for his 3rd we'll do a bigger one though.

  • Just thinking about it makes me crazy.  We only did close family and friends and we were still at about 65 people.  The friends we invited last year without kids will have kids this year so I don't know what we're going to do. I may split it up between my dad's side and my mom's side since I am the one with the huge family.

Didn't our babies just turn ONE?!

Us too. We did a fancy "big" one for her first. I'm still exhausted from it. Turning three we'll probably revisit doing a bigger shindig.

  • Last year I had something small & I will be doing the same this year.  I just don't see the point since they really don't know what's going on.  Next year when she is 3, definitely something bigger.

  • I plan on doing a large party since i have all these ideas in my head for it. It will be based around school buses because ds seems to love them! He understands more this year than last, so why not?

  • We are doing immediate family only grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins with a themed cake snoopy every year except 1,5,10,13,16,18. Those years he gets a huge party. But just having family over for cake and ice cream.

  • On the Saturday after her birthday, we will have 3 friends at our house for a playdate birthday party- Sesame Street theme. Every Sunday, we have lunch at my ILs, so we'll probably have a little family bday get-together that day.

The next weekend, we are taking her to see Sesame Street Live and another couple and their daughter are joining us. I'm really excited about it!
