I'm a FTM, but my friend was as dilated and effaced as you at 38 weeks. They stripped her membranes and she lost her mp the next morning, water broke that evening and had him the day after. Probably means nothing, but here's to hoping! Good luck!
Just read about a study, where half the women had hteir membranes stripped and the other half did not. 12 women that didn't have the membrane strip went into labor, 23 (out of 60 or so) of the group that did have their membranes stripped went into labor.
For the rest, the women who had the stripping done had their Bishop's score rise more than those who hadn't. So, even if it doesn't start labor, it can help things move along!
I was 100% effaced, 2cm & DS1 was at a "0" station at 40 weeks. I had my membranes stripped, and at 41w1d had them stripped again. I had a strong contraction in the parking lot as i was leaving that morning, had regular contractions by that evening & DS1 was born the next day. So for me it worked the 2nd time? Or baby was just ready. My OB offered to strip them today at my 39w appointment for DS2, but I'm only 2cm, 70% & DS2 was still at a -2 station, so I'll give it another week & let her strip them then.
Thanks ladies. Well the day of I was uncomfortable all day but nothing since. Looks like it didn't really make a difference. I guess I will just have to wait until he is really ready!
Re: Membranes Stripped....39 weeks 3cm, 90%.....?
