One of my close friends was due on March 6 and is also a FTM. Her water broke on Wed night and she is STILL in labor. I know she wasn't progressing much as of yesterday early evening when we chatted on the phone so they were giving more drugs to help move things along. Since then I don't have much for details and don't plan to bug her, but her family is posting regular FB updates just saying to keep praying, she's working hard, etc.
Update: She's pushing!!!!
Update 2: Baby Girl is here almost 48 hours of labor. 20+ hours of pitocin and about 3.5 hours of pushing. We have a little chubby cheeked girl ![]()

Re: Update: My friend isn't easing my fears about L&D.
Good luck to your friend, I hope her LO comes soon.
But try & remember that for every difficult L&D story you hear, there are probably 5 more relatively easy/by-the-book ones you never hear about. Try not to worry!
I know, it's just so wierd because her and I were together last Saturday and laughing/joking about the horror stories people were enjoying sharing with us. We were both like - nope, we are good. We'll go in, get drugs, leave happy with baby. I feel so bad she's having such a long process, I'm just hoping she has enough meds that she's not miserable in pain.
I know! That's one of the details I'm dying to know. When will they move to a c-section?
This. I was forced not really pitocin at around the 20 hour mark both times. Delivered within two hours in a whole lot of pain.
I was going to say something similar. With DS my contractions started around 9pm and he was born the next morning at 9:30. In that 12 hour period I was able to get a few hours sleep at the hospital after I got the epidural and before I started pushing.
I wouldn't worry too much, As a pp said, there are a lot of good stories for every worrysome one. T&Ps for your friend for a safe delivery.
My mom once told me to ease my fear of all these scary labor stories people would tell me that you only hear bad ones a lot of the time, because the people who give birth fine usually aren't the ones who want to tell over and over again because it isn't as interesting of a tale to tell.
