Success after IF

Overnight diapers

C just recently figured out he could roll over and sleep on his belly which is great however we have started having issues with his diaper at night since he is not putting pressure on the front of the diaper at night.  I usually would use the diapers that say they can go 12 hours since I don't usually change him at night(unless he is poopy) since it wakes him up to much.  However they are no longer working for 12 hours and leaks all over himself and the bed.

Which kind of diapers have you used and have you had any issues like this?  Any ideas other than changing him in the middle of the night to keep him dry?

We have used the Pam.pers Baby Dry diapers and just moved Hug.gies Snug and Dry(which worked better but still leaked a bit).

Re: Overnight diapers

  • I do not use overnight diapers, but we put my LO in Luvs size 3 and he goes 10-12 hours in one diaper.  By their "weight" scale, he is on the upper end of a size 2, but the 3's seem to fit him better.  He almost always STN so the diaper lasts that long. I think we have only ever had one leak.  I like Luvs alot more than Pampers, Huggies or any other brand.

  • I use cloth pocket diapers. I only get leaks if DS feeds more than once with no change in 12 hours. he is a tummy and dide sleeper. At night I put in 23 inserts. 1 is the normal microfiber one, and then 12 hemp ones. DS can pee a lot. This will not hold up through multiple feedings though. But works 12 hours if he feeds 0 to 1 times after his bedtime feeding.

You may be able to put an extra disposable insert into your overnight diaper. I think I've heard if this being done.

  • We had DH in an overnight (Hug.gies) and an insert for a while (can't remember the brand, but we got them at BRU - very cheap) when he started to have leaks at night. That solved the problem for us for months and now he is still in an overnight, but we don't need the inserts anymore.

  • We use Huggies Overnight diapers and absolutely love them. I started using them when DD was around 5 months. I have always used a size up in the overnights and have never had a problem with leaks. I tried the Pampers good nights once and they were horrible. Huggies are the only ones we use.

  • If you aren't opposed to cloth at night, I swear by the bumgenius freetime - they are pricey but hold a gallon of pee and you really only need to buy 2. It is crazy - when I take it off him in the morning, the top pad is still dry to the touch but it weighs a ton. We haven't had a single leak since we switched to those. No advice on sposies, but I hope you find something that works!

  • We had the same issue with the Baby Dry diapers once DS started sleeping through the night.  We switched to the Pampers Extra Protection and he stays dry.  He might have the occasional little wet spot but he and his clothes stay dry for the most part.  With the Baby Drys, he would soak through the diaper, onesie and PJs.  Not sure what size they start with though.

ETA:  Oh, and DS is a belly sleeper so I know what you mean!

  • We use the Pampers Extra Protection overnight diapers... they work really well!  We've been using them for nearly a year and have only had 1 leak, of course it happened to be last night/this morning when she was in our bed, but whatever... pretty good run there!  And she'd had a lot to drink before bed, so I can't blame them too much.  :)

  • We use the Pampers Extra Protection.  They last longer than the Baby Dry.  You can also try going up a size if he's close to the next size up.

I second this. If this doesn't work get the inserts from BRU. I heard they work well. Going up a size always worked well for us.
