So LO is 4 weeks old. She sleeps pretty well, we only get 3 hour spans at night but she gets up nurses and usually goes right back to sleep. However naps have been hell and I get so nervous bc I know she needs her daytime sleep. However she will only nap if i nurse her, it is so frustrating. I know she's exhausted and I try everything, rocking her, just putting her down, swing. I really am trying to avoid a pacifier, but the second I put her to my boob she closes her eyes nurses for 2 mins and passes out. Then I end up just letting her sleep on me in a recliner but she usually wakes up in 20 mins if I put her in her bassinet and I dread having to do the process all over again! Any advice
Re: Napping help!
Perhaps, you can do a nap or two with baby in your arms so you know that LO is getting some sleep during the day.
My LO refuses to nap in her crib but if I place a receiving blanket under my shirt while I nurse and then lay it over her when I transfer her to the crib then she will stay asleep most of the time,
She just started to nap in the bouncer as well.
Basically, I think babies go through lots of phases so what works or doesnt work is not going to last forever. I would just try every few days but I wouldnt force the issue when she is so young.
My lo's nap schedule was completely crazy at this age and it is slowly improving. Around this time I started focusing on what time she woke up at and make sure at around an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes I was starting to get her ready to nap. It has helped.
Honestly, I'd also consider pacifier especially if you have to go back to work at some point. We have been using it (EBF baby) and it has not affected nursing and she only uses it for sleep. Also, she is almost 8 weeks and in the last couple weeks she has found her hands to suck on if she doest have it.
Today I put her down drowsy with her pacifier and she fell asleep in less than 2 minutes.
I agree with Bubble. I didn't want to use a paci at first, but I really think it helps in those times that DS wants to nurse for a couple of minutes before sleeping.
I would also suggest using a Moby Wrap if you don't mind wearing your baby while getting things done. We just starting using one last week and DS falls asleep immediately.

I also use a Moby wrap which puts him to sleep, but if I try taking him out to transfer, he still wakes up. And I cant seem to get him to wear the wrap supports his head so getting this done while Im wearing him still isnt an option.
