Contractions 7 min apart

I am contracting about 7 min apart almost every time. I took a warm bath, I walked, I drank water. I tried everything to stop them so I could sleep. They are only really painful if I am laying down, they are manageable if I walk. I had preterm labor twice and at 36 weeks was told not to come in unless labor started for sure. Well last time I fell on ice the contractions were pretty painful but weren't progressing me. Yea these feel the same so I have no idea. I thought after 5 hours of them they'd move closer together. NO just 7 minutes apart and painful enough to not let me sleep. Good golly, I still have to either call in to work in an hour or decide to go in. I wish it was cut and dry, this is it you are in labor. I will probably stall out. I keep telling myself that so I'm not disappointed.

  • Well contractions have stopped but I have horrible back pain and lots of pressure. I want to sleep so bad but I have to head in to the doctor shortly to check dilation and effacement. False labor or start and stop, this really sucks.

  • Appointment went okay, she couldn't check dilation with out me crying so she said, if you want me to really dig in and check, I will. Your cervix is very high. (I was high all through my pregnancy and labor with my first) But you will just be uncomfortable and cramping tonight. Labor will come or it won't. I said I was done and didn't want to finish the internal. I have had on and off regular contractions all day with lots of back pain. She didn't leave me very optimistic, but I like her for being a realist. She also said I may go in to labor soon or I could go all the way to my c-section on the 12th. Second time Mom's tend to go through this more. I havn't slept yet. I couldn't with the back pain, so my Mother came over and helped me clean house. She did most of the work, I had to sit a lot. She is such a wonderful Mom.

And thank you for thinking of me! Made me smile. I hope your pregnancy is going well. When are you due? Can't see tickers on my phone if you have one.

  • It sounds like you're in the same boat I was with my second. I had contractions, but they were seven minutes apart, then two minutes apart, then five minutes apart, etc. I also had horrible back pain.

DD#2 was born about 24 hours after contractions started, and she was born sunny side up. They explained that the back pain and irregular contractions were normal for babies delivered sunny side up.

    Good luck :)
