How frequent are your appointments with your dietician? So far mine have been almost every week and my numbers have been normal. I am meeting with my OB every two weeks. My dietitian asked me to consult with my dr if she thinks I should keep going to see her. Dont get me wrong she is very informative and i learn alot but her visits are taken out of my insurances out of pocket expense and we have a budget and i dont think its necessary to give $450 dollars a week for her to just look over my numbers if my OB is doing the same thing. Am I just over analyzing?
With my first pregnancy I only saw a dietician for the GD class. With this pregnancy I opted out of the class and have not seen a dietician at all. My Midwife just looks at the numbers and runs an A1C every trimester.
Unless you are having trouble with the diet and need help with tweaks to your food (which it sounds like you don't) it seems like overkill to me!

With my first I saw a dietitian every week from 28 weeks until delivery. They were less than helpful, pretty much just spent the appt telling me what a crappy job I was doing instead of helping me figure out why my numbers were still out of control even with insulin and following the diet as closely as possible.
With my second, I was diagnosed at 13 weeks. I saw a worthless dietitian at 13 and 16 weeks. Finally at 18 weeks I was set up with an amazing dietitian and saw him every 4 weeks until delivery, with phone consults every 1-2 weeks as needed.

I was supposed to see them once a month but since my numbers are normal I went twice and haven't gone back. I had GD with my first pregnancy and controlled it with diet and my numbers have been fine again. I can't see paying them $160 a month out of my pocket since my deductible has not been met. The last appointment was 15 minutes or less and they charge by the hour. If I see things going out of control I will go back but consult my dr first.
My daughter is 4 and I am just lurking but wanted to give my opinion hoping it would help, I had GD but all I had to do was see a dietician once to learn how and what to eat and then my OB followed up with my numbers at my weekly appoimtments. I do not see why you need to see a dietician more than once.
The program my OB & the hospital refers to normally has the first meeting, a follow-up that week, a follow-up two weeks later, and at least 1-2 more appointments until delivery.
Since this was my second go around I was able to phone in my numbers after my initial visit, had one follow-up in office visit a month later, and am having my final visit on Thursday in prep for delivery & after. My numbers have all been excellent & I'm diet/exercise controlled.
I went to a GD class when first diagnosed. Now one of the dieticians from that office calls me to get my numbers weekly. I don't go see them though & the follow-up phone calls were all included in the cost of the class. My OB just looks through my numbers when I go see her.

Same. No need to go weekly unless you are having difficulty and need suggestions.
