I was just diagnosed last week and have been following the diet since then. My numbers are usually pretty good with the exception of 2 slightly elevated ones so far.
I had my evening snack last night but ate slightly less than I have been like maybe 1.5 carbs instead of 2 to 2.5 and I just woke up in the middle of the night so hungry I felt nauseous. I was afraid my sugar would go too low and then rebound back too high so I ate a few crackers.
Anyone else experience this? Anyone have recommendations on what to do if it happens again?
Re: New to GD diet
I was told to test and see what my BS was - it turns out I was dipping low (50-60s) in the middle of the night on nights I was working out (even if it was hours earlier than bedtime). I was already eating the same (or more) of the recommended carbs. Between that & my HG, I was told to eat an additional snack (PB on a spoon with a shotglass of milk or a string cheese & some crackers for example) but I know some programs are not OK with that because it throws off your fasting.
