DD is 10 months and will be transitioning to DC (3 days a week) in a couple of weeks. This may sound stupid, but I don't exactly know how to transition her. How long do I stay there with her? How Iong do I leave her for the first few days? I am seriously clueless here. What did your transition week look like, especially those who sent LOs to DC between 9-12 months of age.

Re: transitioning to day care at 10 months
I would sit down and talk to either the teacher or director and see what they typically recommend. When my LOs started daycare for the first time I stayed for an hour or so then left and came back a few hours later (after lunch but before nap) to pick them up slowly increasing the time spent there over 3 days.
Good luck!
I agree with the PP that you should ask the daycare what they recommend. My daughter was a little younger when we transitioned her into daycare starting with three days a week, and I put her in a couple of days early when I didnt need to go to work, and left her for only a couple of hours and picked her up again.
I think these centers deal with this process a lot so they should be able to give some advice. Most likely, if she gets upset she will feel better after you leave and she is occupied with playing!
With my first, I just stopped in a couple times for her to visit, which is what they recommended. I was nervous with her, since she used to cry a lot and was a little high maintenance.
With my second, I dropped her off for her first day as a full day. She was 7.5months. She did better than I did!! I guess it depends on the baby too. My first one did surprisingly well (better than I expected) and my second one is just happy all the time and wasn't phased at all. I find she cries more when I drop her off now, since she's starting to have a little separation anxiety as she is getting older.
