2u2 Baby Monitors

I've been doing a bunch of research on baby monitors since the one I currently am using for DS is about to crap out. Since this LO is due in August, I was hoping to get a monitor I could use for both kids in separate rooms. Are there any audio only options out there? Everything I'm finding that has dual room capability is a video monitor.

DS' room is at the opposite end of the house from our room, and he can still have problems during the night, so I don't feel comfortable getting rid of the monitor in his room when we move the new LO to their room.

Re: 2u2 Baby Monitors

  • I was hesitant because of the cost of the whole set up for 2 kids now, and I wasn't sure if I would be getting my money's worth for DS since he is older and sleeps really well for the most part.

  • I just assumed there weren't any two room options for monitors, which I'm finding frustrating.  So many of them have two parent units, which I don't really understand the need for.  Our audio one is still in good shape, so we were thinking of just getting a cheap-o audio one for the new baby.  They'll be in a crib in our room for the first year anyway, so it won't be for overnight just for naps and when we stay up later than baby.

I can't believe how many monitors out there have 2 parent units! I also think its kind of unnecessary. I think I'll just end up getting 2 new audio monitors and I will just have both units set up in my bedroom. Maybe I need to invent a 2 baby: 1 parent unit!

Looks like it's available for $130 at the Graco online store for the US.  Not the Canadian one, though. Sad  I'm gonna keep looking, but I don't think I want to pay that much anyway since our current monitor works just fine.

  • For those with the summer infant video monitor, how do you do it overnight? Can't you only have it on one camera at a time and need to manually switch it? We have the summer infant and were thinking about just adding a camera, but I want a monitor that auto switches between the two cameras so I can keep tabs on both kids throughout the night.
