What is the deal with the word "bitter"?

It is always that word that makes people so angry. What gives? Of all the names someone could call me and of all the names I have seen some people call others on this board, bitter seems the least offensive. Who really cares if someone thinks you are bitter/jealous? I am sure we all have been at some point during the TTC journey anyhow. Just always wondered why the use of the word always leads to a heated argument.

    I think its because its almost always used in connection with someone not being pregnant, or not having conceived quickly. I know I'm not pregnant and I don't need someone throwing something that is totally beyond my control back in my face as if its a failure, or something I could change.

    Or that you are only calling someone out because you don't have a baby, regardless of how ridiculous the called out party is acting. 


    Yep. I love how not being warm and fuzzy is suddenly synonymous with bitter. ::insert eyeroll::

    Personally I think if you don't understand why people take offense to it, it does no good ttrying to explain it. Either you get it or you don't

    TTC#2 Since July 2011
    Me: 29, had two blocked tubes - left was cleared during lap, right was unable to be cleared. PCOS & Stage 2 Endo. DH: 32, SA = perfect
    CLOMID: 4 rounds, 50mg + TI = BFN's. FEMARA: 1 round = no response
    12-24-2012 : Laparoscopy, Softball sized cyst/endo/scar tissue removed.
    Cycle #14 - Feb 2013 : 50mg clomid. Ovidrel Trigger. IUI on 2/14/13 = thin lining, multiple cysts.
    Cycle #15 - no meds, still have cysts, no follicles. Boo!
    Forced break. Continuous BCP for 6 weeks to give my jacked up ovaries a break.
    Cycle #16 actively trying (May/June): Femara, TI = BFN
    Cycle #17- #20 - Med/Treatment break, trying on our own = BFN's all around.
    Cycle #21 - Femara, MORE Femara, Ovidrel and a Christmas IUI = BFN
    MY BLOG -- About DD, TTC and everything in between!

    TTC since 0ct. 2011
    Me-34,DH-34
    Dx:Hypothyroidism 2008
    HSG- All clear CD 3 bloodwork normal
    SA- Abnormal Dx:MFI
    DH on 50mg Clomid 3x week
    BFP#1- 1/21/13 CP 1/24/13
    Cycle 18,19 & 20 50mg Clomid+trigger+IUI= All BFFN
    Cycle 21-25 Taking a break for now, still HIO Hoping!
    Moving onto IVF Next AF
    (PAIF/SAIF Welcome)
