My baby is extremely active and needs constant stimulation. He actually looks more like a 3-month-old... Anyhow, I was thinking about taking him to Gymboree classes for 0-6 month-olds. How old were your babies when you first took them to Gymboree? What do you think about taking him this young? Also, any idea how much Gymboree classes cost?
Re: 7-week-old and Gymboree class?
I go to the willowbrook location. ?It's about $58 a month for 1 class a week, although we do go to open gym 2-3 times a week. ?
?DD is 21 months now, and we started when she was 6 months. ? I'm thinking of taking her out of Gymboree now and trying something different. ?
I'm not sure what they do in the baby classes. ?You can try a class for free though.
We did not use open gym until she was able to walk.
Ditto. I wouldn't pay for Gymboree for a 7-week old. Heck, I'm too cheap even to do it now. I know DD would love it, but it's just not in our budget right now.
agreed. try the free class. no loss if you decide it's not for you. however, i do think 7 weeks is a little young. you'll basically do all the work- sing songs, put him on his tummy on the different aparatus. you can do that at home for free. go to the free class and get some ideas and implement them at home on your own!
i will say, at your baby's age, what they are really doing is learning about their new world. your baby will be intrigued, stimulated and constantly learning just by accompanying you on your daily activities. do you have a sling/bjorn/wrap? if you do, carry him with you while you do housework and talk to him about what you're doing, that's great developmentally. take him to the mall and walk around. all the sights, sounds and smells are sensory heaven for a baby. get some friends together and hit the tot spot. take him out and have some lunch. the world is way more interesting to babies than it is to us moms.
agreed. when Turtle was that age, i was going to 2-3 playgroups a week. good for baby, better for mommy.
I agree with everyone else....it's a bit young (especially for the $). But go to the free class and try it out...you'll find that you probably will defintely want to come back and join when he's about 3 months old!
Don't forget about the Tot Spot at the C museum!
