f/u: My CW's husband going to China alone with a male friend

CW asked the friend why he wanted to go to China.
His answer: "To play sports".
WTF!?
A little back story - CW is from China. The 3 of them spent several weeks in China together a few years back, while she was on maternity leave - so the kids were with them, too.
Also, the friend is an IT nerd type of guy, and sports isn't something he likes to do in general.
I told my CW that this was getting way too weird and if it were me, I'd tell my H not to go. Yes, the ticket is paid for already, but there are plenty of other expenses to take into consideration - expenses that will come out of the husband's pocket, and so ultimately, from the family budget (well, that would be my official excuse for not wanting my H to go anyways).
If the friend bought the tickets without checking with CW's husband first, then it's too bad for him. And if CW's husband told him it would be fine without checking with his wife first, then too bad for *him*. Either way, at this point, I would not want my husband to go on that trip.
I'm all for giving my man space, but the situation has gone way beyond that in my opinion.

LOL this whole story is just bizarre! You have to keep us updated if more unfolds.
Bizarre doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about this whole thing.
I am starting to feel bad for my co-worker because I just can't come up with an actually logical explanation for this whole thing. Something's got to be up, and I don't see that something being anything good.
I couldn't accept free plane tickets from a friend like that - those are just waaaay too expensive, and I personally would feel like I needed to make it up to them somehow. I know there are actual generous people in the world that do nice things like that, but from the way you describe it, this is so out of character that it just seems fishy.
I can't deny, this is what keeps popping into my head. It just sounds so strange! LOL!
This! It's got Brokeback Moutain written all over it...
I can't come up with any other logical scenarios.
I'm going with these ladies!
The only other thing I can come up with is sex tourism, which really isn't better.
