We have seen three different therapists over the years. Only the last one worked, but it's only because my husband was finally open to it and ready. I chose via who was covered by my insurance and the third time was a recommended therapist who took our insurance. It has made the difference in our marriage. We would not be together today without it. We were separated for six months before we started seeing the therapist and saw her about every two weeks if we could manage it. She was really busy, and our schedules aren't exactly easy either.
Counseling would have saved my marriage. Interview potential therapists. See who is the best fit for both parties. If only one in a pair is comfortable with who they are seeing, it won't help. Ironically, it takes communication and teamwork to find the best for your needs.
We are going and he is having us read How We Love. Also, it ranges in price, but about $95 per session, but he was nice and gave us a $70 per session rate. If it can help your marriage, it is worth any cost IMO. Not all counselers are helpful. Make sure you get a good rec or interview them. We had a CRAZY lady a long ways back. Almost hilarious, now. She thought she was Dr Ruth:)
