I'm not surprised but, it was still a lot to handle.
Autsim Spectrum
ADHD
Sensory Processing Difficulties.
The suggested he go to the Full day Autistic preschool. We previous had him in the special needs preschool through the school district but, pulled him out when the teacher got physical with him. I put a call in to the school to have them arrange a time when we can go see the school and meet with the teacher. Were on a waiting list for OT and can't even get in for an evaluation until May.
Is there anything I should look into or doing that they might not have told me about? He already get's private speech therapy.
I feel kind of lost right now.
Re: Development Apt yesterday got DX
The offer an Autistic classroom. I have been dealing with the head of the Child study team due to Lo abuse at the school. They told me that they would get us into what ever classroom that we feel most comfortable with due to the situation. They have 5 special needs preschool with 1 exclusively Autistic. I think there afraid of getting sued. He is also, eligible for the extended school year. I'm really hoping we can get him back into the school pretty fast since he really needs to be in a program.
I'm sorry about the diagnosis, it's never something anyone wants to hear.
Based on the issue with the previous teacher, I'd request whatever you think he needs (OT, PT, Speech, etc.), my guess is that they will be more than happy to work with you.
We didn't have anything of the magnitude that you dealt with, but the wrong kid's speech assessment information (including name/birthdate) was copied and pasted into my son's eligibility assessment report. I kept it as kind of an ace-in-the-hole initially. Once they started giving me a hard time about my requests and the IEP goals I wanted written in, I brought that little gem out. At that point, the meeting took a turn in my favor and they were more than willing to accomodate what I was asking for. Since they technically had incorrect/no data on my son, they really had no leg to stand on in refusing him the speech services I was requesting.
Good luck at the meeting, I hope you are able to find a great placement for him with everything that he needs to be successful!
That's what the therapist we saw yesterday told us too. The Teacher is on leave pending the conclusion of the investigation but, they already hired new teacher so she won't be going back to the class room. She was reported by one her co workers. I am praying that she never gets to work with special needs again.
Thanks I plan on doing what every I have to get him the best possible care.
